The illustrator: Martin Macrae's amazing images are created with high-end 3D software common to the special effects industry. He builds wireframe models that are then "textured" and lit in a virtual studio. The rendered images are composited in Photoshop to get the final result - a highly realistic effect often confused with actual photography. This technique comes into its own when certain restraints make a subject impossible to photograph!
